Dancing Man, watercolour on paper

I created this piece during my life drawing class at school. During these lessons, one challenge I continued to tackle was capturing all the complexities of the human body in limited time. In this piece I was particularly challenged to capture the nude model as he danced around the room, staying stationary for only a minute or even seconds at a time. This work was a unique opportunity to develop my fluency in the shape and form of the human body and, moreover, represent dynamics and movement in art.

I created this piece during my life drawing class at school. In this work I mainly looked at texture.  During these lessons, one challenge I continued to tackle was capturing all the complexities of the human body in limited time. I found that in this piece the most effective ways of creating texture was through shape, as seen in the buoyancy of the hair and the varied use colour.

I created this piece during my life drawing class at school and primarily explored texture.  During these lessons, one challenge I continued to tackle was capturing all the complexities of the human body in limited time.  In this work, I decided to explore mixed media through pencil and collage. Using the collage, with a limited colour palette of tissue paper, I emphasized the depth, shadows and highlights of the model’s body.
