Man on Tube, acrylic on paper
In this piece I used a new technique for me that I had recently been exploring, negative space. This integrated well into this piece as it showed how little I knew of the focal point of this piece, a man riding the tube, who I saw in passing. It intrigued me that the features I left free of colour, such as the book he was reading (possibly the most significant insight into his life), I would in all probability never be able to fill in.
Woman on Tube, acrylic on paper
In this counterpart to Man on Tube, I created a sense of impermanence using the open door of the tube to represent the movement of things passing in and out of the image as the tube itself represents movement.
